A Further Gesture plot

In a split second, IRA supporter and inmate Sean Dowd (Stephen Rea) makes a life-changing decision. During an attempted escape, he picks up a guard's revolver and joins the other fugitive inmates. He starts a new life in New York and makes new friends: Tulio (Alfred Molina) and Monica (Rosana Pastor), two Guatemalan refugees. Something beautiful grows between Sean and Monica, but then disaster strikes again when Sean learns that his new friends are plotting an attack on a power-hungry Guatemalan army officer who has spread death and terror among their relatives.
