Where Is Rocky II? plot
In 1979, American artist Ed Ruscha placed a rocky sculpture among the real rocks in the Californian desert. The counterfeit rock was completely absorbed into the environment and could no longer be distinguished from the real one. Ruscha has always kept this mysterious work of art, called Rocky II, out of his official catalog, as if he didn't want the sculpture to be found. Pierre Bismuth doesn't give up and enlists a private detective to find Rocky II. He also asks Hollywood screenwriters DV DeVincentis and Anthony Peckham to brainstorm a possible action movie scenario around this hidden artwork. Bismuth's docufiction raises questions about the nature of a work of art that no one can see; in fact, a work of art that hardly anyone knows about.
