Agnès Varda, who passed away last month, indulges and enjoys herself in this charming documentary in which she and photographer JR literally put ordinary people and monotonous places in the spotlight in an original way.

Most of their finds are quite successful, but not all and certainly not the last one where a chunk of nostalgia came up but wasn't really very clear.

In addition, however, it was amused to watch the duo in their different attitudes and their simple dialogues with the occasional wisdom of life.

Quite enjoyed this documentary by Agnès Varda. My first film / documentary of hers that I saw. Immediately a bull's eye with which she plays the viewer and especially JR and other extras with her open-mindedness and a touch of mischievousness.

It's amazing those art posters of lifelike large posters on the walls. It is somewhat reminiscent of a cross between Christo and Bansky. But more than the art itself are those little stories of the little man in the street that make it a pleasant whole. It looks like a section of Man bijt hond or Everyone is famous.

The dialogues between JR and Varda sometimes seem a bit constructed, but that didn't bother me. It brought some humor to the already fine documentary that was presented. The van is great and takes you from one place to another. Nice!

Fine feel-good documentary where artists embellish desolate environments with art and put ordinary people in the spotlight. There is a lot of chemistry between the lead actors/directors and there is a constant Godard-like, driving energy and spontaneity. It is admirable how fresh Agnes still is at the age of 88 and how people can be given so much joy with very simple means (detailed portrait photos).

Nice to take a look (seen on Mubi).
