The Waiting Room plot

"One Hospital, Hundreds of stories"

The Highland Hospital in Oakland provides care to people who are low-income, without health insurance, or otherwise financially vulnerable. While the hospital is struggling to keep afloat, it still has room for some 250,000 patients of all nationalities, races and religions - about 250 people appear in the ER every day alone. The documentary provides a raw and intimate, but often encouraging, picture of how patients and caregivers deal with illness, bureaucracy, frustration, hope and tough choices during one typical, hectic day.
