The Road plot

In “De Weg” Scheffer follows the Dutch composer Louis Andriessen during the process of creating his piece of music “Tao”. “Tao” is inspired by the Chinese writing Tao-te-ching, a poetic-philosophical text about death. The film shows the composer's work from concept to premiere. You can see how Andriessen elaborates his first thoughts in Amsterdam and how he finds inspiration in the United States, China and Japan.
