Saving Face plot
"A journey to heal. A fight for justice."
In Pakistan, at least 100 women are mutilated with hydrochloric acid every year. That number is probably much higher because many cases never make it into the statistics. Because they have virtually no chance of recovery operations or legal help, victims carry the physical and emotional scars with them for the rest of their lives. The perpetrators are usually spouses or rejected suitors who are rarely punished. Saving Face follows three victims who undergo recovery operations with the help of an NGO and who, thanks to legal help, dare to report them. Finally, due to pressure from public opinion, the Pakistani parliament passes a law that offers the perpetrators a life sentence.
