Rebellkirurgen plot
After working as an orthopedic surgeon in Sweden for thirty years, Erik Erichsen is fed up: all those rules, waiting times and bureaucracy make his work almost impossible. Erichsen packs up and emigrates with his wife, nurse Sennait, to an Ethiopian region where doctors are scarce. The waiting room at Erichsen's hospital is packed. He assesses hundreds of patients a day at lightning speed. He finds tumors, but also dead feet and stillborn babies. The doctor is filmed in his consulting room, where there is never time for a nuanced conversation. In the operating room, he cheerfully explains how he and his team replenish their meager medical supplies.
