In the year 1972, over a period of ten days, a camera is set up on the corner of the street near the Place de la République. The coming and going of through traffic is recorded. If possible, Malle also briefly addresses the passers-by. A large common denominator is the fact that the interviewees are unemployed and fishing behind the social security system.
