Documentary about painter Paula Rego: Based on new interviews and a wealth of archive footage, director Nick Willing paints a portrait of his mother, the celebrated artist Paula Rego. Although Rego has always been very protective of her private life, she is remarkably candid in front of her son's camera. She shares secrets and anecdotes from her life, in which she fought fascism, misogyny in the art world and depression. In her home country of Portugal, Rego used her art as a weapon against the dictatorship. In London she took up the glove and paintbrush mainly in the name of women's rights, including the right to abortion.
