Paul Sharits plot
In the mid-1960s, Paul Sharits began exploring the possibilities of stroboscopic effects. In the decades that followed, he proved remarkably persistent in his quest for the total deconstruction of the parameters of 16mm film. This resulted in new forms, such as multiple projection installations, 'frozen' film strips between sheets of Plexiglas and ink-colored dividing lines for abstract films. Miron's documentary not only summarizes one of the most idiosyncratic and relevant oeuvres in the history of the avant-garde, it also paints the portrait of a tormented, deeply romantic artist, who always defied fate and also suffered from a hereditary mental illness.
