O Marinheiro das Montanhas plot
Filmmaker Karim Ainouz, who lives in Brazil, travels to Algeria, his father's country. His destination is the mountain village of Tagmut Azuz, where his father's cradle stood. The journey begins on a rusty ship and is a physical and emotional voyage of discovery, which he dedicates in the voice-over to his recently deceased mother. Camera in hand, he has surprising and heartwarming encounters and learns about his parents' special love story and his father's inevitable departure.
