Of course the prisoners in the ground are "good guys" and these here are also very polite and even courteous.

In any case, I prefer this sober black-and-white film with its many scenes shot in almost real time than the super spectacular similar American products. Great acting performance. Marc Michel walks as Henry Fonda in "The Wrong Man". Surprising lock.

Becker's last film that at times reminded me of Bresson's "Un Condamné à mort s'est échappé".

Handsome French classic that I was finally able to watch on AppleTV+. Although in French and without subtitles, I think I have understood most of it. A prison movie with the aim of escaping. It is the central theme of the film, because prison life itself is rarely shown. Everything is put into preparation and exploration. Some scenes are just made exciting by their dullness when they start tapping or filing. The lack of music and the duration of the scene gave an oppressive effect.

Great ending that I didn't see coming. Hard and raw at the same time when they realize that it was all in vain. Excellently portrayed with that stylish black and white. In that respect, it also reminded me of Un Condamné à Mort S'est Échappé ou Le Vent Souffle Où Il Veut (Film, 1956) .

Le trou is a film that takes its time and that is why it is so strong. It takes the viewer along after the experiences of the prisoners on their way to freedom. strong!

Excellent film about five prisoners in one cell trying to escape. This has got to be pretty much the most realistic prison/escape movie. For example, no music is used and the entire escape attempt is shown here in great detail. The exciting and unexpected ending makes the film even better.
