Miss Sharon Jones! plot
Barbara Kopple follows the path that soul singer Sharon Jones (1956) travels between the moment she is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and the first performance after her recovery. In one of the first scenes of “Miss Sharon Jones!” she is shaved bald. Her manager temporarily stops all promotion activities for her new album and during the six-month chemotherapy she moves in with a friend, who is also a dietician. The musicians of her backing band The Dap-Kings see their incomes decline visibly. At the lowest point of the cure, she also lost her eyebrows, but slowly the combative Jones, who is sometimes called the female James Brown, is recovering.
