Mein Name Ist Otto plot
Otto Waalkes has been a major player in the comedy business since 1973 and is one of the most successful comedians of all time in Germany. With television programs, series, feature films and animation films, as well as with books and live recordings of his tours, he has earned a considerable fortune, but has also repeatedly been confronted with major flops, especially in the 1990s. The documentary traces his career, from his humble beginnings in his East Frisian home in Emden, his time at the artist's residence Villa Kunterbunt in Hamburg-Winterhude, where he lived with later greats such as Udo Lindenberg and Marius Müller-Westernhagen in the 1970s, to his successes and failures in the decades that followed. With a mixture of lightness and depth, filmmaker Christine Uschy Wernke gives insight into the fears of a man who, despite his success, never really believed in its sustainability.
