Lemmy plot

"49% Motherf**ker, 51% Son of a Bitch"

Lemmy tells the story of the amazing life and career of heavy metal pioneer and cult icon Lemmy Kilmister, the frontman and driving force of the influential band Motörhead. For more than four decades, the booze-and-drug career of the sandpaper-voiced Kilmister has crossed paths with rock milestones. He saw the Beatles at the Cavern Club, was a roadie with Jimi Hendrix, Sid Vicious's mentor, and played in both Merseybeat and Motörhead. He inspired Dave Grohl, Slash and Metallica, who appear in Lemmy alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper and many others. For three years, from his cluttered Hollywood apartment to the ice hockey stadiums in Europe, the restless road warrior has followed. Lemmy's many admirers tell how and why Lemmy has become the epitome of rock 'n' roll and the last of a dying breed...

A nice documentary about rock/metal icon Lemmy. Although I have never really been a fan of Motherhead, he was of course a very distinctive figure in the rock/metal genre and he also made a number of great songs. It was nice to hear that without him, great bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer probably would never have existed.

It was also great when someone said, "His voice is so hoarse, it's like he ate nails"

The documentary is a bit long-winded and also repetitive (people praising him), so I sometimes found myself fast-forwarding. You don't really hear anything special about Lemmy either, because although he is a very striking figure, he is also a bit boring (especially when it comes to spending hours behind slot machines).

Just Lemmy. In the rock world, there are many artists who have talent but after a while choose media, money, success... Lemmy is no good boy, and given his age in this documentary, it is not illogical that he is a bit quieter, but he is simply himself. And that alone is enough to have just as much charisma as rockers who had to die young for it. The documentary mainly shows Lemmy himself, of course, but also takes the time to touch upon the chapters in his career. And also a bit behind the man himself, but personally, I am glad that it focused primarily on his music.

The main assets are primarily the footage of Lemmy simply in the mood for a video game, having a collection, taking time for an autograph, moving close to his local pub... that is rock 'n' roll! He talks himself about artists like Little Richard, Elvis, and The Beatles. Are those the greatest artists? Figure that out for yourself; these are, at least, the names that influenced Lemmy. In turn, you see big names like Dave Grohl, Slash, and Metallica turn back into little boys when they see Lemmy. This is no longer the standard glorification you often see in documentaries, but genuine appreciation for the man.

Is he a saint? Absolutely not. But he is real. And that has certainly become apparent in this documentary. Rarely have I seen the soul of rock so clearly captured on screen.

A messy but ultimately irresistible documentary about musical legend/hero Lemmy. Many scenes are irrelevant and the editing could have been much tighter, but there is so much beauty to see and hear that you, as a viewer, are quickly won over. The hymns of praise from an impressive procession of musicians, although often very funny, weren't even necessary; Lemmy himself is easily capable of carrying the documentary single-handedly. Driving a tank, dressed as a German soldier, or gaming at home in his cluttered, shabby apartment with his son beside him on the couch; it makes no difference. What a personality and what a sense of humor. Not infrequently, the man also manages to be moving. I already knew it, but the documentary confirms it once again: Lemmy is God.
