Jheronimus Bosch - Touched by the Devil plot
In 2016, Het Noordbrabants Museum is organizing a major exhibition on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of the medieval painter Hieronymus Bosch. The film follows the team of Bosch experts who, in view of this exhibition, try to unravel the mystery of all 25 surviving paintings by Bosch. For four years, the team traveled the world examining in detail his paintings in museums such as the Museo Nacional del Prado and Musée du Louvre using X-ray photography and infrared techniques. For the first time in history we get the chance to penetrate to the lower layers of paint in order to get an impression of the creative process of the 'devil artist'. But it also raises the question whether all the paintings were really painted by him. What makes a Bosch a Bosch? What findings will the investigation lead to?
