Three children in particular are followed as they visit Reverend Becky Fischer's camp where they receive training in how to 'get America back in their hands' for Christ, and the religious side soon turns out to be combined with a political mission.

A disturbing subject in a mediocre documentary.

After seeing this documentary it is quite clear that there are quite a few fanatics among the Christians. That they impose this degree of belief on themselves is up to that point, but to push innocent and especially ignorant children of 5 years that down the throat (I have no other words for it) is pure child abuse.

Jesus Camp lets you witness a youth camp organized by the 'organization' in which the children are brainwashed in a devious way. The documentary only includes its registration and some standard interviews in which the people in question are not really confronted with their working method. Only the DJ of the radio program manages to get a reasonable discussion out of it (at the end). Other than that, it's all a bit simple and not very interesting. Could have easily been told in one.

Definitely a must see but don't expect a Michael Moore approach.

3*

Comedy wouldn't have been out of place as a genre designation either, because man, I've occasionally had a hard time with this silly documentary. If you want to see Christians praying that their PowerPoint presentation won't be sabotaged by the devil or dragging a cardboard George Bush onto a stage to explain his political views, this is the documentary you need to watch. In the indoctrinating scenes it gets pretty creepy though. So in Jesus Camp some Bible camp is followed and in some scenes it gets really freaky and terrifying. Children spontaneously start babbling crazy words and bursting out crying because they are apparently in contact with the Lord. Really sick to see kids being totally brainwashed.

I am very pleased with this documentary. It just shows what it is, without the docu-makers commenting. It is the viewer's turn to judge this occasionally utter idiocy. That's nice in itself, because that comment would just be superfluous. The images speak for themselves .

Reasonable documentary about the Christian community in America and their children. The summer camp is pure indoctrination aimed at an impressionable group (young children). The makers do not pass judgment and only register, perhaps because of this the documentary is a bit monotonous and sometimes a bit on the boring side. The whole profession of faith of the children during this camp is 'scary' to see.
