Imprimatura plot

Can painting be a cinematic method? Certainly, according to this documentary in which artist and director Semâ Bekirović speaks with her 78-year-old mother while she paints her nude portrait. During the sessions, the two discuss, among other things, their family history and the role of women in art—but above all, a life-changing experience of the mother's, after which she felt truly free for the first time. Through painting, the daughter attempts to understand that experience and explores whether someone can ever truly be captured in a portrait.
