Grandma's Tattoo plot
Armenian Suzanne Khardalian grew up with her sisters in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Khanoum, their grandmother, lived in the flat above. The filmmaker remembers that in the eyes of the grandchildren, Grandma had creepy blue tattoos on her hands and face and never gave out hugs or compliments. Khardalian in the voiceover: "We all felt bad in her suffocating presence." No one knew why Grandma had become this way. The past was never talked about. Years later, Khardalian emigrated to Sweden and made several documentaries about the genocide in Armenia as a filmmaker.
