Frosset Hjerte plot
Norwegian Roald Amundsen (1872-1928) is one of the most famous polar explorers of this century. He was the first to complete the Northwest Passage through the Canadian Archipelago, becoming the first human to reach the South Pole in December 1911. He was probably even the first to plant a flag at the North Pole; in any case, along with Ellsworth and Nobile, he was the first to fly a small plane over the North Pole. Amundsen was killed during an expedition to rescue Nobile, his Italian rival. Many of his expeditions were captured on film. These images from the wonderful white world form the backbone of Frosset Hjerte. The story is further told through letters and diary fragments by Amundsen himself, collected in his autobiography published in 1927, and later incorporated into the biography by the Norwegian writer Tor Bomann-Larsen.
