De Natuurlijke Ruimte plot
In “The Natural Space” Scheffer confronts the views of two Dutch architects. That of the Benedictine monk Dom H. van der Laan and the anthroposophical architect Ton Alberts. Van der Laan represents a sleek and pure architecture, based on his own research into proportions. He designed churches and monasteries, including a monastery in Vaals. Ton Alberts, on the other hand, works from organic forms, as evidenced by his NMB head office in Amsterdam. Director Frank Scheffer emphasizes the difference in style of these architects, who both reflect their philosophical background in their work by using a clearly distinguishable camera system to portray the two architects.
