“We know more about space than we do about the brain.” This sums up the plight of Louis Petit, who suffers from a rare, terrifying form of complex epilepsy that has destroyed years of his young life and erased his childhood memories. Louis’ parents, filmmakers Christopher Petit and Emma Matthews, tell Louis’ story through an extraordinary archive of footage, including documentation of his seizures. The family is confronted by the rigid bureaucracy of Britain’s inhumane healthcare rules and seeks temporary solutions elsewhere, including Rotterdam.
