Brando plot
"As Great As the Man Himself"
This three-hour documentary chronicles the life and career of the enigmatic actor Marlon Brando through archival documents, unreleased footage and in-depth interviews. More than four dozen interviews paint a meticulous, honest portrait of one of the greatest film actors ever. The film begins in childhood with his alcoholic mother and domineering father, who sent him to a military school. Through theater classes in New York and his first stage success, he developed into a famous film actor in the 1950s ("A Streetcar Named Desire", "On the Waterfront"). Furthermore, the documentary also pays attention to his political activism in the 1960s (for the American Indian movement) and his comeback in the 1970s ("The Godfather", "Apocalypse Now"). He stopped acting in the 1980s. Finally, the documentary also focuses on his personal tragedies. Three years after his death (in 2004), relatives, friends and colleagues testify about their relationship with the legendary actor in an honest and sober way.
