A House in Jerusalem plot
This documentary builds on the earlier documentary called House. It highlighted the living situation of Palestinians in Israel. It was about a house in Jerusalem that was taken by the Arab owners - 'displaced in your own city' - and came into Jewish-Israeli hands. In A House in Jerusalem, Gitaï begins his quest with a return to the earlier film House, that house and its original inhabitants. Then he walks out onto the street—Dor Dor Vedorshav Street in East Jerusalem—to interview today's residents of this affluent neighborhood, then the Arab family who used to live there, an archaeologist, and a few others, and interweaves these interviews with carefully choreographed images of the street.
