Wiretapper plot

Jim Vaus is an electronics expert who is employed by the United States military. Jim is discharged from the military one day for making unauthorized use of government equipment. Jim keeps this a secret from his fiancée Alice. He pretends to have been abroad and then marries Alice. Jim then opens an electrical company and becomes involved in a gangster gang led by Charles Rumsden. Alice begs Jim to stop, but he's helpful to the crooks because he's familiar with wiretapping and bypassing alarm systems. Gang member Tony asks Jim to invent a device that can slow down the race results phone lines so the gang can make big money betting on races.
