Petty criminal Karl Benson uses and cheats on several innocent people to survive. One of Benson's victims is Merl Kramer, who finds out just in time that her boyfriend Guy Bayard is cheating on her. Guy is wanted for jewelry heist by insurance agent Joe Cooper, who pressures Merl.
