This movie revolves around Jimmy Alto aka Jimmy Hollywood (Joe Pesci). Jimmy talks a lot, but says little. Jimmy tries to get a job as an actor in Hollywood. Nothing helps, not even the billboard he had put up with the money from his girlfriend (Victoria Abril). Until Jimmy even starts making movies. Jimmy and his dowdy buddy (Christian Slater) make nighttime videotapes of criminals, give them to TV stations and suggest some kind of vigilante guerrilla is active. The media jumps on it, the public is enthusiastic. The joke gets out of hand: Jimmy loses himself in his first real role. The anonymous leader of Save Our Streets is exposed by a huge police force.
