In the impenetrable forests of Oxbow, the search is on for three fugitive prisoners. Reluctantly, the sheriff has to enlist the help of loner Lewis (Berenger), the best tracker in the area. Lewis only finds some torn clothes and an arrowhead. To find out the origin of the arrowhead, he visits the anthropologist Lilian. He learns that the Dog Soldiers, an elite tribe of the Cheyenne Indian tribe, are still alive and even very close.
