The two ex-cons Dick and Perry invade a farm to steal the money. When it turns out that there is no money, they unscrupulously murder the entire family. A little later, they head to Las Vegas and are convinced that they have left no evidence behind. Yet a policeman manages to find them and it turns out that when the two killers are separated, they each have a different memory of what happened.

In the third revision!
I was actually supposed to go see the movie "Capote" last night, but after half an hour of Philip Seymour Hoffman talking in a weird voice, I knew that drastic measures had to be taken to save the evening.
To stay in the Capote atmosphere, so quickly grabbed this film off the shelf.
And it really is one of the best movies of all time.
Magnificent black and white photography, a subtle and effective Quincy Jones score and an extensive film adaptation of the very first true crime novel based on a murder in 1959.
Very grand modern Americana and the movie is even more ultimate than the book.
One of the truly great American movies.
Masterpiece!

Excellent film in which two ex-prisoners plan a robbery on a family in order to quickly get money. This early true-crime film is well constructed and the black and white camera work makes for a moody film. Told quite dryly in itself, and perhaps that is why it is so good. The two main characters are well developed and the acting by Robert Blake and Scott Wilson fits in nicely with this.

Realistic across the board, in which the concept of "death penalty" weighs heavily on what the film leaves behind in terms of considerations.
