I'm not familiar with the true story; the one this film is based on. I certainly found the plot impressive. However, I did detect some sensationalism from the filmmakers. That wasn't necessary for me, just like some of Jodie's sad moments; after all, we're talking about police officers here. But then again, the film also has to be interesting. The actors certainly didn't do a bad job. There were also several beautiful shots of the surroundings. I also thought the scene where the traffic was sped up was well done. The movie poster could have used a bit more attention; I don't think it suits the story. All in all, a fine film about, unfortunately, a harsh reality.

A powerful South African crime drama. What makes it even more interesting is that the antihero in this film is a Black woman... for a film from South Africa, that is; the country where Black people were denied a voice for too long, were marginalized and demonized, and even lived in the bitterness of white people long after apartheid. This film shows that things can get even dirtier.

Also based on a true story, but it doesn't surprise me. White multinationals kidnapping young girls from townships and then selling them to the Arab elite for oil or simply throwing them into prostitution. Two women who stick their noses in this case will cross paths: the stubborn white policewoman Jodie and the merciless anti-hero Ntombi, just described, who still has a score to settle with the demons of her childhood.

I Am All Girls is well-constructed, alternating between the past and the present, the police investigations that often yield shocking results, and the eventual acts of revenge. But also the slightly lesbian scenes between Jodie and Ntombi, where you can immediately see that this film is emancipating. Beautiful images of South Africa, a grim atmosphere, especially when we come face to face with the grim locations it centers on. I found the ongoing training Ntombi underwent to ultimately take revenge on her captors surprising.

A film that leaves an impression and confronts you with the cesspools of humanity.

South African police officer Jodie [Erica Wessels] believes there's a direct link between a current murder spree and Gert De Jager [JP Du Plessis], who confessed in 1994 to killing dozens of girls. She discovered who is responsible for the current series of murders. Instead of arresting the killer [Hlbuia Mboya], Jodie uses her to track down the prominent politician who commissioned De Jager in 1994. This original, thrilling twist on the serial killer thriller raises complex moral questions.
