"What would you do to get out of debt?"

Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks) are two friends with serious money problems. One day, however, they come up with a plan to make these money problems a thing of the past; they are going to make a porn movie. But as soon as the duo starts filming, they discover that they feel more for each other than they initially thought.

“That's what porn is: turning the normal into abnormal, by fucking it!”

Explicit comedy. There are a lot of lame and sex-related jokes and certainly during the making of the porn film, the film overshoots its mark. This should be the funniest part, but I couldn't help but laugh.

The start is a lot better and Rogen and Banks are a very strong duo. I especially laughed at Routh and Long's cameos. Rogen and Banks are friends, but you know from the first minute that these two are going to get together. That's not a bad thing, because in the run-up to that you are treated to a fun comedy that is fortunately not too prudish. The ending is cliché, but it's nice that it still feels fresh. Great work from director Kevin Smith and the actors.

Mme.

A film that dares to push the boundaries here and there. But the film doesn't really go into this too much either, although it is sometimes surprisingly explicit for a film that is rated 12+ here.

The jokes are fun here and there, Rogen in one of his better roles and even Banks is tolerable. The title sets reasonable expectations, but you can leave them at home, because outside the taboos this is little more than a normal American comedy.

Unnecessarily sweet at times, but generally manageable. Nowhere did I find it hilarious, but it's slightly better than the average American comedy. Unfortunately not much better, and this does not get more than 2.5 *.
