Mediocre horror comedy. The story is very dated and feels outdated, which means that the self-mockery with all kinds of lame 90s characteristics does not quite succeed. Furthermore, the film is easy to watch and there is a little bit of laughter every now and then. The horror is limited with some kills and a few cheaply made flying limbs. There is hardly any tension. The acting is good. Unnecessary work. 2.5

Missed opportunity. Nice starting point, ideal peg to sketch the late 90s/early 00s internet culture here. Instead a big high school cliché spectacle. Mostly seen before. No, not much soup

A delightful futuristic blend of comedy, science fiction, and horror. Director Kyle Mooney clearly has a knack for humor, even if his own performance is a bit on the simple side. The threat is particularly amusing, naturally presented simply, but the unbridled torrent of vulgarity is infectious. Jaeden Martell and Rachel Zegler's acting is otherwise flawless, and Y2K is allowed to go all out with graphic violence, but Mooney would have been better off emphasizing the tension more. Once it all kicks off, it simply doesn't happen, resulting in a somewhat shabby finale.
