We Are Zombies plot

In a zombie-infested society with no cannibalistic tendencies, the imposing shadow of the Coleman Corporation looms over a city. Through this action, three friends infiltrate the network of Coleman Corporation to retrieve the undead humans and sell them themselves. Everything seems to be going well until their grandmother is kidnapped. In order to pay the ransom, they have to accept assignments that can prove quite dangerous, especially in a society where everything has gone wrong.

A bit of a lackluster and bland zombie comedy, which has to rely on a sympathetic cast and a few more inspired moments. Visually neatly maintained and here and there I had to laugh ("welcome to pain city, population: you!"), but overall it's all rather thin. A disappointment from the directing trio that was previously responsible for the nice Turbo Kid and Summer Of 84.

From the director trio Francois Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell, who previously came up with a better retro horror after the terrible Turbo Kid (2015) Summer of 84 (2018). Now We are Zombies, which seems to be a nice mix of silly humor and zombie horror.

In the film, three losers try to survive in the zombie apocalypse. They don't do it in the usual way, because the zombies in this film are friendly living dead who are no threat to the living. Some have jobs. Others beg. Still others live with their family until they get tired of taking care of the undead family member. An original idea. However, the social implications and the potential humor that can be distilled from the coexistence of zombies and humans quickly disappear into the narrative void.

After a nice opening, We Are Zombies plods along without a real plan. The entertainment then only lies in a silly moment and in some violent activities. The film also does not have to rely on the bland characters. Poorly developed and never funny. In most zombie films, the gore still provides pleasant entertainment. At the end, it goes a bit wild. Furthermore, in this area, there is also little entertainment. We Are Zombies. I did not think much of it.

Welcome to Pain City! Population: You!

The idea - zombies as the living impaired - is pretty brilliant, but the execution is not. Now the film does have a few nice moments, but the main characters are boring and annoying, there is no real plot, and there is not really anything to see. Oh, and the soundtrack sucks except for the exaggerated false music at the end credits. It does make you think that so many people apparently worked on this piece of crap - or were they perhaps living impaired.
