Ventoux plot
Four men, friends of yesteryear, climb the Mont Ventoux on their racing bikes, as they did 30 years ago. And they do what men do so well: effortlessly alternate between heavy seriousness and slack talk. Until their childhood friend, the beautiful Laura, shows up and the "ghosts" from the past show up. In a contemporary and recognizable mix of hilarity and melancholy, friendship prevails, which, precisely because of that past, turns out to be a friendship for life.

Very dull movie. I fell into zzz sleep after 10 minutes. Could also have been the beer. The outdoor shots were beautiful. But otherwise a crappy movie. The humor is really hard to find.

Thirty years after five friends attempted to climb Mont Ventoux, Bart [Kasper van Kooten], André [Wilfred de Jong], Joost [Leopold Witte] and David [Wim Opbrouck] decide to return with the ashes of Peter again the cycling up a legendary mountain. During the preparations, predictable old hurts (including jealousy about the then 17-year-old Laura [Abbey Hoes]) surface with equally predictable consequences. An attractive cast is saddled with a trite scenario, but there is a nice soundtrack and there are beautiful pictures of Mont Ventoux and the surrounding area.

The mythical Mont Ventoux and drama have been inextricably linked since the tragic death of Tommy Simpson in 1967. In this film, the now almost legendary mountain forms the backdrop for a group of comrades who, thirty years after a traumatic event, are still looking for answers. Apart from the beautiful shots of the mountain, the film barely appealed to me.
