1861, Angelina is the incumbent countess of a sovereign Italian republic, who must react when the Hungarian army invades. Francesca, one of her ancestors, had the same problem 300 years ago when she led the country. Francesca descends from a portrait to lend Angelina a helping hand. Things are complicated because Angelina also falls head over heels for the attacker.
