“I think I want to sleep on a bed made of your voice.”

Ted 2 is less successful than its predecessor. Of course it is all predictable and the novelty has worn off, but there are also some less successful jokes in it. It all needs to be rougher but Seth MacFarlane overplays his hand a bit with that. The story is a bit better and Amanda Seyfried is certainly an improvement over Mila Kunis but the formula seems to have been worked out a bit.

The film is too long and I didn't want that whole road trip. It gets a bit long-winded and boring and neither the actors nor the humor can hide that. Giovanni Ribisi still has a painfully unfunny role as Donny, although Comic Con is a perfectly chosen location for a movie about a talking teddy bear. Fortunately, the film has the voice of MacFarlane, Seyfried, Mark Wahlberg, Sam J. Jones, Patrick Warburton, Morgan Freeman and Jessica Barth as Ted's wife, who can all be very funny. And if you also add some very funny scenes at the beginning and a great scene in the hospital at the end, you still have a movie that is sure to give you an entertaining evening.

Slightly better than part 1.

Although I have to say that that part has already sunk too far to say exactly what that could be. In any case, the scores don't lie. Half more, so that must have had its reason.

Every now and then the crude humor completely misses its target, at other times it is nice and dry and below the belt. With a number of actors who also like to lend themselves to it. Nice moment between Seyfriend and Gollum for example, but also Freeman's Bieber remark (normally too easy) was spot on. Those are the moments when the movie is at its best.

Story itself is no more than a coat rack, every now and then it slows things down a bit too much. Certainly not everything is equally funny, there is a bit too much boring stoner humor in it anyway, but apparently there are still entire population groups that start chuckling when it comes to weed.

Oh well, a decent snack for the couch. These films aren't really great, but this second part was quite entertaining every now and then. Too bad it wasn't consistent enough.

2.5*

More fun than part 1.

Not that all the jokes work, well they don't, but the timing is really good - and I think it's mainly where this second part is better than the original. And the gimmick of well-known actors and Americans who come by for a cameo works very well for the most part, with Liam Neeson as the best example. And Seyfried works better than Kunis, although that may be more Wahlberg than Kunis.

Fortunately, Ted has remained rude and rude for a while. That is not so bad, after all, it often happens that an American production suffers a lot from criticism from the neoconservative angle.
