Fairly average Allen.

Liked the start. Anyone who plays with genre elements, lays a light and quite funny foundation, but as often proves that he can't really finish a film like this. It's fun for an hour, then it drifts further to an uninteresting conclusion.

I will never become a fan of Johansson, here too I did not think her performance was too good. Jackman actually doesn't come off much better, bit of a dumb duo. I can appreciate everyone better, always has the same role of course, but that's just part of it.

I liked the first hour as I said, after that Allen doesn't know what to do with the plot. The lame end at the lake, Allen getting caught but not stopped in the music room, Allen's accident... , it's just such a shame that when Allen tries to wrap the plot there just isn't turns out to be enough to keep it interesting.

Yet most of his films are still worth the effort, although he often does not last a whole film.

I've seen enough Woody Allen movies by now to be able to conclude that I'm not a fan of his and never will be. I liked Match Point and VCB, but not the rest. This Scoop also absolutely did not appeal to me. Allen as an actor is horrible, but also the normally good actors Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johanssen play just bad here. In addition, the story is wafer thin with no surprises at all. No, these kinds of farcical films are not for me with that bland humor and exaggerated style of acting.

Allen will never be my favorite director, although most films are easily digestible. As far as I'm concerned, it's always Allen himself who likes his movies. As an actor that is. Again a special character, next to a somewhat silly Johansson and boring Jackman. But after a while you have actually seen it and you have to wait until the end.
