Riff-Raff plot
After Stevie (Robert Carlyle) gets out of prison, he finds a job in construction. His colleagues provide him with a squatted flat. They are at the mercy of the subcontractors and work without social protection and proper safety measures. With humor the construction workers try to make something of it. Moreover, there is still something to earn here and there... When Stevie finds a bag and returns it to Susan (Emer McCourt), a starting singer, love grows hesitant. Susan moves in with Stevie. They learn to get along. As construction takes place, one of the mates is fired and another falls from scaffolding. Stevie won't let it go.
