Seven-year-old Mai often wears a mouth mask that resembles a pony's mouth. She doesn't like her first name and prefers to be called Pony. While shopping with her mother for school supplies, she sees a colorful dancer and a busy salesman in the market. As a result, Pony conjures up an imaginary friend named Birdboy. Afraid of going to school, Pony thinks she's in trouble. But Birdboy claims to have a solution for everything.
