The most important thing in the life of stock buyer Lawrence Garfield is money and preferably someone else's money. When he attempts to acquire the New England Wire & Cable company, he must battle the company's president, Andrew Jorgenson, Jorgenson's assistant, Bea Sullivan, and a New York attorney, Kate Sullivan. However, Andrew has no intention of selling his company and eventually the bitter fight turns into a lawsuit.
