"It's about finding the love of your life. And deciding what to do about it."
Jules (Roberts) long ago made a deal with Michael (Mulroney) to get married if they were still single at 28. The time has almost come and Jules is very anxious because she does not want to get married at all. Two weeks before the time comes, Jules learns that Michael is getting married to Kimberly (Diaz) and then she realizes that she is actually very much in love with Michael. Determined to stop the marriage, she sets off, but Kimberly turns out to be incredibly nice, leaving Jules in a moral dilemma.

What a misfire this is. Julia Roberts does a typical Julia Roberts role and is very annoying! I could expect it, but who knows, there were still so-called 'redeeming qualities'? Not so, it's all shit.

Reasonable film that is saved by the infectious acting of Julia Roberts and especially Cameron Diaz. For the rest it is all very predictable and there is no character or actor that stays with you. That's not a bad thing because again, Diaz and Roberts are good and know how to draw all the attention as a sparkling centerpiece. And the ending is quite original which is a breath of fresh air.

The gay friend is the best part in the movie yet and the last scene is the best in the whole movie. A bit too far fetched, if the makers had kept it simpler, this would have come out better. An original ending, a bit different from most movies in the genre.

One of the best romantic comedies of the '90's and also one of Roberts' best performances. The film subverts genre expectations and created layered, dynamic, and interesting characters that aren't usually found in this kind of cinematic landscape.
