Nora is a single mother. She lives in a small house with her son Michael. They may not be rich but they have each other. One day, Nora's father, Max Dugan, shows up unexpectedly. He left Nora and her mother when Nora was barely 9. He has a suitcase full of money and tries to win over Nora and Michael with all kinds of gifts. After all, he doesn't have much time left because he suffers from a fatal heart condition.
