Le New Yorker plot

Alfred, a young Frenchman, arrives in New York to visit Alice, an American woman he met in Paris. But Alice refuses to see him and moves to an unknown city. Alfred wanders the streets and ends up on a bench in a park. A mobster takes care of him and asks him to take care of his dog. Alfred accepts the assignment but the beast runs away. Feverishly, Alfred searches the streets of New York for the dog.
