Le Distrait plot
The kind-hearted Pierre Malaquet works at an advertising agency, where his absent-minded attitude keeps causing confusion and commotion. The man makes every effort to ultimately bring success to the company. Malaquet's boss wants nothing more than to fire him. A spectacular PR campaign by Malaquet puts him in the center of attention.

For his first directorial effort, Pierre Richard cleverly placed his own persona in the advertising world where our curly-haired boy could give free rein to his fantasies.
The result is of course a lot of nonsense, but also a lot of successful, funny gags.
Richard is at his best, Bernard Blier fits perfectly in his role as the "unhappy" director and Marie-Christine Barrault is very sweet, which guarantees a romantic dessert.

Weak and moldy humor around an absent-minded character. This is truly a substandard directorial debut by Pierre Richard. Reminds me a bit of Mister Bean (with that little car, among other things) but the old-fashioned humor around those publicity stunts was really not to listen to. The intro scene with the police officer was one of the better moments. The romantic sidesteps with the girlfriend Lisa made it too sweet for me.
I mistakenly thought this was one of his best films but I was very wrong. It must be "Je suis Timide...."
