When lovable Larry Crowne is fired for no reason from the supermarket where he works, he decides it's time to change his life. Deep in debt and with no clear goal in mind, he returns to school, where he soon befriends a colorful group of outsiders. I also didn't find it to be about anything and uninteresting this film.
A man loses his job and follows adult education for the rest of the film. I personally don't find that very interesting. 
The fact that he drives around with a scooter club in between and gets to know the teacher in a different way in after-school time didn't make it any better for me.
Quite a shame with 2 such great actors as Hanks and Roberts.
A film that fits nicely on a TV channel we have here, which focuses on women aged 25 to 45, I think that's also the target group for this film.

Hey, how nice, a film in which Tom Hanks really portrays someone at the bottom of society! Oh no, Larry is of course not a loser at all, because whoever tackles will get there. And all the people he meets are nice, and he gets top marks in college, and those friendly motorbike, I mean, of course scooterdevils help him get his life back on track, and his (ex-) neighbor is also worth gold. . . Only Julia Roberts' bitter teacher is here. For the rest, this is actually repulsive crap, and then there is also a full point for that annoying girl full of infectious zest for life who comes to optimize Larry's life unsolicited. Flash it up!

The only reason I saw this movie was because it's a Tom Hanks movie. But damn, pretty disappointing I must say. This has to be one of my weakest movies in the last 6 months (and I saw quite a few).
The film starts well and has a fascinating premise: a committed staff member is fired and has to change his life completely. It had to be a tragicomedy according to the TV guide. I found neither of them. Very dull, meaningless story. Little to no depth, no concept, aimless and meaningless. I expected more from Tom Hanks, a lot more. In terms of acting it was not that bad, he can do that as one of the best with a role that suits him best (a somewhat goofy gullible character). As a director, on the other hand, well, what do you think about this? Even his early career rom-coms (Splash) had more to it. Julia remains Julia, an enchanting woman, the only thing that really had anything in the film. Film not entirely realistic (simple and predictable plot lines) full of clichés (the school friends, the romantic part, the neighbor, the makeover of his interior, ...). Unfortunately!
