"Nothing is inconceivable."
Alex Hesse and Larry Arbogast are working on a new drug that should reduce the risk of miscarriage in women. When funding for the research is withdrawn and experiments on humans are banned, they decide to test the drug by getting Alex pregnant. However, he becomes very attached to his unborn baby.

What a stupid hassle this is. Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop was already dubious, but this really beats everything. He allows himself to be exploited for an experiment to become the first man to ever bear a child. The concept is really cringe-inducing stupid and is never really explained well. The story doesn't flow well and I haven't been able to discover the humor. Weird miss...

Disappointing film in which a man becomes pregnant as a result of a medical experiment. In itself a nice idea for a comedy, but it is simply not worked out funny. The interaction between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito came into its own in the Twins (1988), also directed by Ivan Reitman.. It is therefore Emma Thompson who is the funniest here. Just not 2.5 stars.

Nonsense premise, but that can often lead to a very nice film, especially with the ultimate action hero in such a leading role. Unfortunately not in this case, because this is just not funny. More importantly, Schwarzenegger doesn't seem to feel like it at all. The premise is so over the top, I'd expect a protagonist to take it all with a wink (as Schwarzenegger does in Batman & Robin), but he comes across as incredibly flat. A missed opportunity. 1* for the My body, my choice joke, the only fun moment in the film.
