In terms of story, this film barely rises above average in the screwball comedy genre. Fred MacMurray was still at the beginning of his career at the time and that lack of experience is clearly visible. As a result, the entire film rests on the shoulders of Carole Lombard, but you can leave that to one of the very best comedians who have ever walked around in Hollywood. Her smooth acting and natural beauty still lift the film to a more than satisfactory mark.

That Lombard is one of the best comedians in film history is evident from this extremely entertaining screwball comedy. She's on top form here, receiving some good counterplay from a young Fred MacMurray and the ever-charming Ralph Bellamy. Lombard plays Regi Allen, a simple manicurist who dreams of marrying a wealthy, attractive man. The disabled Allen Macklyn [Ralph Bellamy] meets those conditions, but while Allen starts to feel more and more for Regi, she sees him above all as a good friend and confidant. When Regi literally bumps into an eccentric man [Fred MacMurray], she doesn't like him at first, even when he comes from a very wealthy family and shows interest in her.

This screwball comedy has plenty of sharp dialogue and inventive comedic scenes (note Lombard trying to pour a cup of tea, among others) and there's strong support from Marie Prevost as Regi's colleague with a fascination for numerology and especially Ruth Donnely as her very sharp boss . A very entertaining comedy.

Fun and light-hearted romcom, Fred and Carole play their roles very nicely and also seem to have a good chemistry with each other.
