A little too easy.

A film that is a little too proud of its influences, but ultimately does little more than refer to some popular horrors. There isn't really much that is obscure, which makes it all feel a bit lazy and overdone. Saw, Scream, Halloween, Friday the 13th and so on... I think my parents can name those too.

Also not a fan of the eternal "yes/no" in this film. The twists are also not well developed at all, so you have to wait and see what the last scene ultimately says. Masciale leaves it hanging there too.

The acting is also quite poor and anyone hoping for something gross or exciting will be quite disappointed. Fortunately it is still a somewhat smooth film, with a bit of chuckles left and right, but in the end it all feels a bit too easy and commercial. A moderate horror/comedy, only recommended when other sources are completely dry.

2.0*

Twist after twist after twist...

The film starts out nice and funny. We get to know the main character who loves horror films and doesn't really get scared anymore. Then he learns Fear, inc. know. His friends and girlfriend don't want him to call, but curiosity wins out anyway. He calls there and the horror begins. From here there is still a bit of comedy, but mostly horror. This movie had so many twists, a bit too much for me personally. The acting was very believable, so sometimes you don't know what you're doing anymore. I didn't quite expect the ending.

Nice movie and definitely worth a watch. 3 stars

Revised due to lack of inspiration and the narrow pass plummets to a solid fail. Fear, Inc benefits from an original concept, but wastes far too much time on comedy scenes that are clearly too ambitious for the actors. Lucas Neff in particular acts like a wet newspaper (despite the obvious energy), unfortunately he plays the leading role. The supporting roles fare a little better, but nevertheless give the impression that director Vincent Masciale tackled a rather boring production. The run-up is rather drawn out and devoid of tension, which means that the film barely manages to hold any interest for a long time. The last half hour picks up the pace considerably, but by then I was already bored out of my mind. That is a serious achievement for a horror work, but the nice plot twists towards the finale ultimately provide some life. The ending even saves the film to a certain extent, but you have to get through an exhausting first hour to watch that one minute.
