Funny that everyone mentions Monthy Python in his review, while this really isn't a Monthy Python movie. In the meantime, I have already mentioned three of Monthy Python by name (and I will do that at least another 5 times) and it makes perfect sense. Not because Jones directed the film and also plays a part in it, just like MP member John Cleese, but because the humor is simply the same. Exactly the same in tone and intent. 'Less' I hear everyone say next to the obvious comparison and I can only agree with that.

Although. There are moments that are of equal level. The very casual death sentences of Cleese, the beginning where Robbins wonders what all this looting and rape is for, the musical chairs in the boat, the sea monster from the north sea, the invisibility cloak, the sinking or not of the city and quite a few scenes are just of equal level. The movie as a whole isn't, but at those moments it's a lot of fun.

Really liked all the supporting actors. Robbins is unfortunately out of place here. If only this was an MP movie. Now it's not an MP movie, otherwise an MP at a third of its power and that's exactly why the movie is very nice, instead of great. I hesitate between 3-3.5 stars

Wonderful video! Erik The Viking is for sale everywhere for a few euros and you get more than what you pay for. (Fun) fantasy/comedies are quite rare, but unfortunately this one is not exactly cherished. In the first place, Vikings are made fun of. These main characters are mainly fantastic figures. That eternal haggling between the Berzerker and his father is great. Or what about the discussion of whether or not someone's grandfather died of old age. The role of the monk also awakens the laughter time and again. You have to have some historical sense to understand the humor. If this one doesn't extend beyond what you learned in Thor, Erik The Viking will indeed not be a great success for you.

However, for a comedy there is a lot to experience: adventures in High Brazil, monsters and more magical places and creatures. There is so much happening that I actually didn't realize that Tim Robbins is indeed not performing the role of his life (but is actually not bad either). In all this, the hand of Terry Gilliam is clearly visible. I don't know why I wouldn't recommend Erik The Viking to fans of his work, if they haven't seen it yet.
