De Helleveeg plot
In De Helleveeg we meet Albert Egberts (Benja Bruijning) and his aunt Tiny (Hannah Hoekstra). Tiny suffers not only from a fear of contamination, but also from a compulsively sharp tongue. To Albert, Aunt Tiny, jokingly called Tientje Poets, is as terrifying as it is intriguing. Once grown up, Albert heads for a major confrontation, in which all family secrets finally come to light.

De Helleveeg
After the first twenty minutes I almost wanted to turn the movie off. Luckily I didn't, because De Helleveeg actually only gets better as the film progresses. In the beginning it's a bit annoying and only Hannah Hoekstra made sure that I kept watching. But as soon as the light-hearted atmosphere is exchanged for a somewhat dark storyline, it gets better. This is actually a dramatic and very tragic story, and in the second part De Helleveeg comes out a lot better. That is also due to Hannah Hoekstra, because without her the film would have made a lot less impression.

Intense movie. One of the better Dutch films in my opinion.
I think Hannah Hoekstra is very good in her role, and the story touched me. Not right, but the longer I looked, the more it affected me. You have to be in the mood for it. I didn't check whether or not the Brabantian language is correct, I'm not from Brabant either, and I haven't read the book, so I haven't compared it with that. In any case, the film has not disappointed me and the soundtrack, "My Love" by Sharon Kovacs, is still a good song. 4*

Good movie! Not a comedy, but real drama.
